Pressure sensitivity in musical keyboards is nothing new – pressing the keys harder results in a louder note, just as if you sit down with ever-increasing force on a piano – but until now it’s not something we’ve seen on regular QWERTY keyboards. That could all change, if Microsoft Hardware decide to put their pressure-sensitive keyboard into production: developed as a prototype for the UIST 2009 student innovation contest, it can track 8-bit pressure information across all of its keys.

3DConnexion has always had a place in our heart for their reasonably priced and smartly designed three dimensional controllers. Now the company is back on the scene with the SpacePilot Pro, which ups the ante — and the price point — considerably. This bad boy sports an LCD screen and lots (and lots) of buttons, including controls for various isometric views and navigation settings (pan and zoom, rotation, speed). If that weren’t enough, there are function keys for various apps and an applet for checking your MS Outlook mail. Ships with drivers for Windows XP and Vista, Solaris 8 and 10, and Linux — as always seems to be the case with this company, Mac users are stuck without for the time being. Google disclosed Saturday that it shared a very small number of online documents with users who weren’t authorized to see them. The privacy glitch, caused by a software bug, affected just a tiny fraction of documents — an estimated less than .05% — wrote Jennifer Mazzon, Google Docs product manager, on a corporate blog. DropBox has to be one of the easiest ways to share files on multiple computers. After you install DropBox, there is a folder called “My Dropbox” located in your documents folder. Facebook users are at risk from malicious hackers targeting the site, online security experts warned. Account holders have been hit by several different hacking attempts in the last week, as thieves try to capitalize on the trust users place in the service.
